I love water, I find the sound of water moving in and out with the tides soothing and peaceful and at the same time beautiful and strong.  You will find water in several of my paintings.  The paintings may include a soft tide on a beach, the majesty and freedom of a horse running in water or the rush of a river surrounded by trees.  I also love close ups and details.  The details in the petals of a flower, in a leaf, a face, in eyes.

So far, I have used watercolor and mostly acrylics to provide a lot of detail.  I do however plan to try oils and see what kind of detail I can achieve with them.

My hope is that I make you smile, I trigger a happy memory, or that I help you to consider to stop and smell the roses!

My name is Karen Connor and I have been drawing, inking and painting for more than 20 years. I started tole painting classes with my sister 25 years ago.  Unfortunately that did not last long because the place the teacher rented became unavailable.  Many years passed before I discovered Carole Forbes.  When I found her I was happy to join her classes and learned to refine my drawing skills and add detail. She showed me how to choose different methods to add detail to my drawings of buildings, how to make details for trees, water and bushes and I completed my first few paintings while attending classes at Carole's home studio.  I drew, inked, used watercolour pencils and made acrylic paintings during my 3 years under Carole's guidance. For the past several years I have painted in my home and feel ready to put myself out there.
